Hi @KylieWaldon, there’s a few ways to tell, but it can be difficult sometimes, especially in strange lighting. Square tailed would have a more obvious pale head, barred ‘fingertips’, a clear black band on the end of the tail, and would overall be a lot more mottled than this bird. This also looks like a young black kite (hence the pale streaks and darker bit around the ears), which can add to the confusion. Hope this helps!
